Sustainable solutions well into the future

Let's face it: loadshedding (essentially an incorrect term) is here to stay.

While we can live with a few hours of not having a power supply in summer, in winter it becomes problematic. Two hours one can deal with. But what will things look like during winter when the demand is much higher? Extended loadshedding!

Power cuts eventually damage your equipment

Your household insurance will most likely not cover damage because of loadshedding.

Most applicances are intelligent enough to systematically switch themselves off once the power button is pressed. When the power feed just stops, this process is not completed. This could result in irrepairable damage. These applicances that are not meant to be without power.

We live in the 21st century. Electricity is essential

Very few devices in your home or office do not require electricity.

Eventually, your stand-alone inverters, battery-operated lights, and other emergency systems will run out of power. What then? You need, and deserve, a proper supply of clean electricity.

Unregulated installers can cause untold damage

The increased need for solar installations has resulted in many fly-by-night operators

Do not be tempted by unrealistically low quotations for your solar installation. There is a reason why many installers underquote. Ohmtek has the required certification and experience to ensure a safe and compliant installation.

Things to keep in mind about your solar installation

We do a professional installation with minimum interruption where possible. Cabling is neatly managed at all times. You will not want to hide your installation.
Ideally, solar panels are placed on a north-facing roof. This allows for maximum exposure. Where possible, we will avoid shaded areas.
Unless you opt for a really large installation, you may still require Eskom's electricity supply as a backup. Most batteries will run out of power at some point.
Essential areas of your home will use solar panels by default while non-essentials, such as pool pumps, stoves, and geysers, will use municipality power.
The inverter, batteries, and other items are installed in safe areas. We will inspect your property and suggest the most suitable location.
In an ideal scenario, you can expect a significant decrease in your monthly municipal electricity bill. Learn to manage the system, at least for the first few weeks.
You can manage your installation with a mobile app for maximum control. This places control of the system in your hands, even if you are not at home.
We monitor your system remotely, for your convenience. We have the expertise and understand the load balancing that is required for optimal performance.

What to do next

Consider this: Given the current situation, it is not a matter of whether the national electricity grid will collapse. It is simply a matter of when. Do not be left in total darkness. Protect yourself, your family, and your home against the chaos a total grid collapse will result in.

Recent installations

For security reasons, we do not provide physical addresses or other specific details about our installations. We will also not supply photos that could identify the client's property. However, it is helpful to see what a proper installation looks like. Should a prospective client wish to view a recently-completed installation, we will enquire from the owner if they will allow their installations to be viewed, and then contact you for a site visit.
